Third Street Flats: European Inspiration in Historic Downtown McMinnville

Third Street Flats: European Inspiration in Historic Downtown McMinnville

Opening this Memorial Day weekend, Third Street Flats is the collaborative effort of wife and husband team Erin Stephenson and Travis Easterday. Inspired by their European travels, this McMinnville couple is bringing nightly apartment rentals to McMinnville's Historic Downtown.

"Staying in an apartment is a really independent style of travel, great if you want an insider’s perspective of a place," Erin explains. “In Europe, nightly apartment rentals can be easily arranged in advance of a trip or from most Tourist Information booths in a train station, but this option hasn’t caught on here in the United States. We’re hoping to change that with Third Street Flats by giving people the opportunity to experience a place the way the people who live there do, rather than being surrounded by other tourists in a more conventional lodging setting.”

To ensure a local experience Erin and Travis are collaborating with many local businesses. Each of the four flats are being designed by local teams of designers and will feature local art, honor bars hosted by Abbie & Oliver's, a book exchange sponsored by Third Street Books and visitors can use a local guidebook created by Photosynthesis. Upon arrival guests will find a complimentary bottle of Third Street Flats Pinot Noir created by NW Wines and chocolates from Honest Chocolates . Guests will also be able to enjoy free tastings at Wednesday Wines and special rates at Yogis Studio.

When asked about their marketing strategy, Erin shares “We want Third Street Flats to be a business that belongs to the community more than it belongs to any individuals, so to that end we have a very collaborative approach to everything we do. We really hope to help increase tourism in the area by offering visitors a new way to stay in Wine Country, and to continue to promote Historic Downtown McMinnville as a destination.”

Erin’s Marketing Advice:
Play to your own talents and get your message out there in a way that feels organic to your business plan.

In Next Month's Issue...

We're still collecting content but already have Chef Jody's recipe for Drunken Lamb Shanks. This dish is fantastic and was cleverly named by David Fish of Fox Farm Vineyards.
